    Pros

Decent hours. 8:45 am to 6:00 pm. And you work every other Saturday. The weekend that you work a Saturday. You'll have one week day off. Closed on Sundays.

    Cons

The job title is deceiving. There is one Manager. Everyone else who works in the office is an assistant manager. I thought coming to this job I was a true assistant manager(supervisor/ lead). They want to call everyone an assistant manager. Title is not what is important!

    Advice to Management

Before your hired you have to drive 2 hours to Charleston to meet the owner john. Whether your hired or not, they will cut you a check for $50. My opinion of John, was that he is unprofessional & way to into himself. As he was interviewing me he had the audacity to have his feet propped up on his desk. I was so thrown off. John, then went on to asking me personal questions. Married? Divorced? Kids? Wtf does it matter if I have 5 kids or none, divorced or single. Smh. I was so thrown off by his line of questioning. He is unprofessional! Also, he had a dog. Yes, I said a dog in his office! Pets don't belong in a work place. Well atleast not in a professional work environment/ work place.Next, the pay is horrible! This is not a career move. Once I was told the pay I promise I was about to say sorry that I just could not accept for that amount. But then I'm like I drove all the way to Charleston & I have no other job lined up at the moment. I took the job, even with all the red flags. I worked there less than a week and then quit once I found another job.

The turn over rate at this job is high. The person who was training me had been working there a whole 3 weeks. She was super nice & had a grasp of what was going on but still had questions herself as to procedures. She was super sweet. The other person working there. Only been there 1 week. Then me. The manager was cool & been there a few years.

Cons

Pros

Work with the public. Not bad hours

Cons

Biggest problem is other employees. This is a company that depends upon who you know, not what you know. It is owned by one individual so when there is a problem, he makes a decision and that's it. He always sides with the ones who bow down to him. The also put low income people in high interest loans and then take their vehicles.

Advice to Management

Quit treating the good employees badly and stop putting bad managers up on pedestals.

Pros

The only good thing about this company was you always got paid weekly & it was always in

Cons

He (John Derbyshire) was extremely unprofessional, as stated in a previous review. He wouldn't allow Managers or District Managers to discuss pay or hire employees, only himself, so potential employees were driving to Charleston for $50 with no idea of pay & only the potential of getting hired. He does ask personal questions- number of children, age, marital statues, smoker vs non smoker, etc- during the interview which is highly illegal. He also pays for any former Title Max employee to give him information on Titlemax policies, procedures and/or client information (including paying current Titlemax employees for customer list)!!

He pays far below the competition. Assistant Managers start from $8.00/hr to a MAX of $13.00/hr with very few making more than $10/hr. Assistant managers can get overtime and have way less "headache" than Managers also. I refused the Manager position as long as possible as Managers only make $600/wk salary, no overtime. I was forced into the position at which point I promptly quit.

Advice to Management

Pay your employees better. Learn HR laws before someone sues you bc once that happens the first time everyone is going to follow suit!!

Pros

Promises fair treatment in the beginning, not stuck in the office all day with complicated and lying coworkers.

Cons

Majority of the store managers are disrespectful, no privacy including your personal life, twists stories before it reaches management, sets customers up into entering into a "low interest rate loan", management accepts one-sided stories without hearing it all, praises spiteful and conniving employees while trying to convince the good ones to be like the bad ones.

Advice to Management

Stop allowing terrible managers to have the privilege of treating assistants and customers with disrespect, take time to hear both sides of the story and treat each employee and customer with respect. Stop giving terrible managers passes.

Pros

Great story line. How ever none of what you hear is true.

Cons

Growing up I was always taught if it sounds too good to be true it usually is. When you meet the CEO John DerbyshireYou think wow this guy is awesome, he really cares about his employees I would love to work for this guy.Everyone at corporate will make you feel totally welcome, and make you begin an open door policy and that no matter what position you are in your voice can be heard. However it is all complete and utter bs!!! You will even accept a lower salary thinking that the sacrifice will be worth it after you show what you can do..Again.... don't walk away run away. Everything about Auto Money is a scam.... From the long tenured employees to their loan and title programs.Upper management will force you into doing poor loans to increase your numbers and even after getting loan approvals from the DM, and the CEO personally, and then getting praise for said loans. BEFORE THE PAYMENT ON the loan becomes due, magically everyone but you has amnesia. I witnessed personally a call from the CEO call a store and be put on hold because the manager was with a CUSTOMER and the CEO wanted to fire the manager on the spot.... Both the manager and the person who answed the phone. In the end it was a formal write up but that was after sending both home and leaving the store to be closed by a trainee 5th day on the job.

The CEO and other upper management recruit as many TX employees former and current as possible even thought they are currently involved in a lawsuit with them. IT'S LIKE the CEO has a personal vendetta against title max. You are advised to seek out title max customers and they will dig and dig until they get the Rate a half of a percent under what tmx can do just out of spite.

Advice to Management

Stand by the values you claim that you have. Listen to the employees who give their heart and soul to grow the business and stop believing the good old boy system is the way to being successful. Success is made possible by those same employees you let go without a second thought, not the pieces of crap that you tip toe around and hope they don't waste their time while on the clock.
